Emerson was, in fact, William James' godfather. William James was accomplished as a psychologist and is known as the "Father of American Psychology." He had a deeply held belief in the connection between mind and body and did extensive research in this area in his laboratory at Harvard. He also had a great interest in what was known as the mind-cure movement at the time and successfully used these practices to heal his long-standing condition of depression. This seminar will include an exploration of key writings and ideas of William James that have enriched the evolution of New Thought and inspired its pioneers, including Ernest Holmes. There will be a focus on reading and discussing two of James' essays in particular, and copies of these will be provided to the participants. William James was known as a great thinker, and this seminar will broaden and enrich the thinking of the participants into new realms on pertinent subjects in New Thought. Non-accredited.
